Studio Manager – Job Description
- Competitive pay: base salary plus commission on every membership you close, plus a monthly revenue bonus when the studio beats its goal
- Clear career path to Regional Manager ($80,000+ potential) across our growing group of NYC and Westchester studios
- Regular performance reviews with base pay increase potential
- Paid time off and paid holidays
- Paid management and on-the-job training, plus a weekly management meeting with the owner and the other studio managers
- Free stretch sessions
- Full-time, 40-hour week on a consistent five-day schedule that includes one weekend day
- Your day starts by opening the studio at 9 AM and making sure it is clean, organized, and ready to welcome members. You review the day's schedule, the overnight leads, and the morning performance report so you know exactly who is coming in and which first visits matter most.
- As members arrive, you greet them by name, check them in, and make sure each person feels comfortable and cared for.
- You personally run every first visit. For a stretch assessment you do the 15-minute intake before the client gets on the table, the practitioner stretches them, and you close for 15 minutes afterward. For a consult you may run the whole 60 minutes yourself. You block that time on the schedule so the team knows where you are.
- You are the first point of contact for new leads: you call and text them back quickly, book the free stretch, and confirm it the day before so it shows. Unconfirmed appointments don't show, and no-shows don't buy.
- Throughout the day you lead by example alongside the sales associate: coaching how we communicate the value of practitioner-assisted stretching, answering phones, checking the schedule, and following up on missed appointments. As a team player, you stretch clients when the schedule needs it.
- Between appointments you keep the studio's Daily Performance Report current: first visits scheduled, shows, conversions, cash and EFT sales, cancels, and where the month is tracking against goal. You know your show rate and close rate at any moment.
- You run the retention side too: following up with members who haven't been in, working the call list with the team during downtime, handling past-due accounts, and holding our 30-day cancellation policy while doing everything reasonable to keep the member.
- When there is a gap in the schedule, you and the team are out in the neighborhood: visiting nearby buildings and businesses, dropping off free-stretch cards, and building the relationships that fill the schedule.
- If a member has a question or concern, you resolve it with professionalism and a personal touch.
- Every day, you build a culture of excellence, accountability, and service.
- Every first visit: intake, close, and the follow-up if they don't buy on the spot
- Fast lead response and day-before confirmations on all free stretches
- Winning back former members and growing existing members into larger memberships
- Coaching the sales associate and practitioners on how to present memberships
- The Daily Performance Report, kept accurate and current every day
- Daily and monthly goals for first visits booked, show rate, close rate, cash, and EFT
- Member retention: rebooking rate, cancels, past dues, and members who have gone quiet
- Opening and closing, studio cleanliness, and the member experience from the front door to the table
- The practitioner schedule: covering gaps, keeping sessions logged, and making sure the team is productive during downtime
- Accurate time clock and session records so payroll is right the first time
- Handling member questions, concerns, and policy conversations professionally
- Leading, training, and holding practitioners accountable to service standards
- Weekly management meeting with the owner and the other studio managers
- Local outreach: nearby residential buildings, offices, and businesses that can send us members

Most stretching methodologies try to wait out, overpower, trick, or ignore the stretch reflex. The proven way to increase performance and mobility is to work with the stretch reflex with the revolutionary techniques available through the Stretch Zone® Methodology (SZM). The SZM Practitioner identifies any postural and movement limitations, then tries to correct or mitigate them through specific applied stretching sessions. With a balanced system the customer will reach their true maximum potential, whether they are an professional athlete, weekend warrior, couch potato, or suffering from chronic pain or illness.
A career with Stretch Zone® means not just meeting and maintaining a level of excellence, but continually improving in skill, to further one’s expertise and to advance the industry. As a minimum prerequisite to SZM we recommend a personal training certification in ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA or NCSF and/or a license in therapeutic massage or other accredited body work.
